The MGBL tackles the challenge of inconsistent competition by featuring two ability-ranked divisions per grade level (boys and girls). This ensures high-quality matchups, allowing teams to focus on playing their best.
Similar to established national circuits like MADE Hoops and EYBL, the MGBL features three regional sessions with teams playing four games each in the first two. Performance in these sessions determines seeding for the Championship Weekend. Additionally, the league's regional structure allows clubs to plan travel in advance.
The MGBL prioritizes a professional atmosphere, providing all games with two officials, trained scorekeepers, and site managers. This frees coaches and players to concentrate solely on the competition.
Committed to affordability, the MGBL strives to keep gate fees low for families. Additionally, live streaming on the Big Time Hoops YouTube channel ensures fans can catch the action, even if they can't attend in person. In-depth game coverage by a team of experienced videographers will be complemented by weekly player and team profiles.
The league offers coveted league-wide bids to six elite girls' and boys' clubs, guaranteeing them a spot in every division. Remaining slots will be filled through a competitive selection process, ensuring participation by the strongest clubs independent teams each season.
Operated by a passionate Maine-based platform with deep knowledge of the state's basketball scene, the MGBL is dedicated to fostering the growth of the sport.
